The Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services (Department) posted the MATRIS V3.5 Schematron file that contains the validation rules for the new standard in MATRIS to the NEMSIS.org Massachusetts state page https://nemsis.org/state-data-managers/state-map-v3/massachusetts/. The initial version was posted April 27, 2023 and last week minor changes were made to 3 rules. The excel list of the rules is on the NEMSIS state page and also attached, along with the list of data element changes from V3.4 to V3.5. The validation set was also published on the MATRIS site in the Elite Library , it is labeled “Massachusetts State Validation Rules (MATRIS) V3.5”.
Timeline and Process for implementation:
- By June 15, 2023, MATRIS will be ready to accept NEMSIS V3.5 data.
- Prior to beginning submission of NEMSIS V3.5.0 data, services must submit any NEMSIS V3.4.0 data they have not yet submitted and will then be issued the V3.5 integration account needed to import runs. - At that point, ambulance services may begin submitting data, in accordance with all the requirements of the AR 5-403, directly to the MATRIS website, https://matris.imagetrendelite.com/Elite/Organizationmatris/, or import from third-party software that has passed NEMSIS V3.5.0 compliance testing for ambulance services, as documented on the NEMSIS website here.
- Until September 30, 2023, services may continue to submit NEMSIS V3.4.0 and should be actively working to transition to V3.5.
- As of October 1, 2023, all services will be required to submit data in accordance with the new NEMSIS V3.5.0 standard, and all requirements of the AR 5-403
